Ubique | March 2021 Update

We are now into our third month of forward testing of Ubique with our broker and the data feeds which expect to use once live and the final tweaks to ensure maximum efficiency are underway. Both, Golden Ratio and Keeping Up With The Joneses are showing parity to within a 1% tolerance level, and we now at a stage where we can finally say that those two strategies are 'finished'. We are now in the process of building out all the historical data back to the 1970s and 1920s respectively. Once completed, all will be published on our website to inspect and pick holes at.

Fear and Loathing on the other hand hasn't reacted as expected, however. Analysis of both the trades we have taken with the broker FXPrimus is very different from the expected results when compared to other data. This appears to be from inspection due to the fact that our broker's data feed is a lot less volatile than that of the VIX generally. The silver lining to this is due to its inherent stability we are able to turn up the dial so to speak on it to get increased return whilst not going crazy on the drawdown side. Initial testing has shown a c.60% RoI for last year with a c.20% drawdown. Once blended with the other two strategies, we should be looking at an even more stable equity curve.

All that being said, and with our vastly underperforming volatility strategy, March saw us put up 2.92% on the board, which gives an IRR of over 35% for the year. We are hoping that for April and possibly May, we will be able to generate more trades with the new evolved VIX strategy to compensate for the less volatile conditions.

In other news, we are close to signing an agreement with a new partner who is looking to introduce clients and money to fund which will give Ubique a fantastic early boost to get the fund running live. More details will follow, but due to privacy reasons, information on this will be limited unless both parties are happy to disclose full details.

If you have any questions, or would like to know more about anything mentioned above, feel free to get in contact with us, and we'll happily have a chat with you about it.

The value of investments may fall as well as rise and the income from investments may fluctuate and is not guaranteed. Clients may not recover the amount invested. Trading and investing can be a challenging and potentially profitable opportunity for investors. However, before deciding to participate in the market, you should carefully consider your investment objectives, level of experience, and risk appetite. Most importantly, do not invest money you cannot afford to lose.

There is considerable exposure to risk in any investment transaction. Any transaction involving securities involves risks including, but not limited to, the potential for changing political and/or economic conditions that may substantially affect the price or liquidity of a currency. Investments in speculation may also be susceptible to sharp rises and falls as the relevant market values fluctuate. The leveraged possibility of trading means that any market movement will have an equally proportional effect on your deposited funds. This may work against you as well as for you. Not only may investors get back less than they invested, but in the case of higher risk strategies, investors may lose the entirety of their investment. It is for this reason that when speculating in markets it is advisable to use only risk capital.
